Default F30 - chattering noise when AF

I just bought F30. Just wonder the same F30 owner out there, if you can hear a chattering noice inside lens when the shutter release is half-pressed (focusing) ?

The sound is very similiar to Nikon 18-200mm VRII when VR is switched on.

the chattering noise is not due to AF. its due to the opening and closing of the aperture. if you look into the lens, when you have a sudden change of lighting, from dark to extreme bright, the aperture will close so that the LCD can display correctly.

try it, even w/o focusing, by shifting lens towards very bright and very dark you will hear the chattering noise.

thanks for the info and explanation.

I was wondering where does the noise come from...and whether my F30 is faulty.
