I just bought F30. Just wonder the same F30 owner out there, if you can hear a chattering noice inside lens when the shutter release is half-pressed (focusing) ?
The sound is very similiar to Nikon 18-200mm VRII when VR is switched on. |

the chattering noise is not due to AF. its due to the opening and closing of the aperture. if you look into the lens, when you have a sudden change of lighting, from dark to extreme bright, the aperture will close so that the LCD can display correctly.
try it, even w/o focusing, by shifting lens towards very bright and very dark you will hear the chattering noise. |

thanks for the info and explanation.
I was wondering where does the noise come from...and whether my F30 is faulty. |
