Default 6mp consumer vs 6mp slr

I can't help wondering why does 6mp consumer camera images is not that sharp despite using da max pixels still can't be compared to using DSLR..... even when using 3mp on SLR. Is it bcoz of CCD or Lens.
Nowadays da consumer camera comes with 10mp models. does dat means sharper pictures?
It sounds like a stupid question, or me belonging to dat category

Quality of the pixels is different, i.e. size, s/n ratio

Different on board image processing for non RAW files

    Lens quality

Kinda like a 2Ghz Pentium 4 computer versus a 2Ghz Duo Core computer.
Both computers are running at 2Ghz, same same but different.

I think its a very normal question for many who are new to photography. Dont be shy to ask. It is those that are shy that usually never learn.

On another note, they are also most likely would fall for the salesman sales pitch of "more MP better so better buy this camera".

if you downsize and print everything at 4R or S8R, even a 6MP can give you very sharp images.

that aside, a 10MP compact has a smaller sensor than a 10MP DSLR, hence resolving power is not that high.
