Please help! Mysterious line at focal point

Hi all,

I own a D50 and when I was taking some photos today, I discovered that there is this mysterious line that attaches itself to the focal bracket. For example, [] (this is the focal bracket) the line will appear at the [ (left hand side) and it will start from the edge right to the bottom of the screen.

What is happening? My lens is clean, I've not dropped the camera, I really don't know what's wrong here.

Someone please help?

dismount your lens and check your focussing screen for debris

No worries... It is absolutely normal. Do a search as it has been discussed b4.

I believe its stated in the manual too.

is this normal? i've tried searching, cant find it.
it has never appeared before, i bought the cam in june.
i'm so freaking out sorry for being such a girly girl.

hello! i've dismount and checked, there's no debris, it looks clean.

Yes absolutely. Look in your manual under "Troubleshooting". The line will follow your active focussing area.

thanks, i will look at the manual once i've got home because it's really really strange since it never appear before

If u have your camera w u now, try changing the focus area (left, right, top, bottom n centre) you'll notice the line will change location too.

Once you notice it you will keep noticing it. Otherwise, you'll not normally notice it.
