Yes I do compare it with my old machine...at least 4 time faster...maybe due to Core 2 Duo CPU + more Ram...

That great...u must be very experience since u start since version 5.0. Currently I'm learning to use the version 7.0b due to editing the HDV...though version 6.0d do support it. Heard it much more power & flexible than Premier pro 2.0 but was wonder is the render part do take longer to finish it...

Do u capture the video straight from the tape thru Vegas or just using any 3rd parties software or any capture card?

using Vegas 6, and recently got 7.

sadly, Vegas doesnt seem to have good multi-thread support. those running Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading, or dual core CPU users wont really get speed increase... =(

Basically, speed increase does not necessary means better work flow. One can only edit that fast. Switching OFF or closing the background programs helps increase the speed (like anti-virus, internet access, any monitoring program). This is more obvious in Vegas 7

To answer some of the questions: yes we do directly capture from tape using Vegas (the time code is more accurate than some 3rd party and not opening other programs helps the speed). I personally do not do most of the post, I am basically more of a cameraman / photographer. So not qualified to teach, my partner who does all the post don't like to train our future competitors (HEE HEE) just joking , no time anyway.

In US Vegas is bundled with the SONY HDV cams, just strange that it's not so for rest of the orld.

U mean from vegas 6 to 7 right? Dual 2 core is definitely much faster than all pentium 4 CPU including the Extreme version...
