Flash question

Hi all, would like to know your comments and say about some flash question that i have.

1) Sigma DG500 Super, DG500 n which series of Canon Flash is comparable? etc 550ex/580ex? I would like to enquire in terms of features, quality and prices.

2) Can a Sigma Flash works together with a canon flash if its to be use as a slave or vice versa with the canon flash.

I have the 580EX and it cannot work as a slave flash for other systems.

Sigma flashes do not work as well as Canon ones and don't last as long too.
