Default Question about Running in Indoor IPPT

    Can anyone help me?

I'll be going for indoor ippt next tuesday, and I'm just told by my friend today that the treadmill is not level, meaning it will be angled at a certain degree.

Can anyone tell me how many degrees? I just have one more chance to practice on mon before the real thing comes...

You can't qualify for IPPT cash incentives indoors.

I find it a bit weird running 2.4 on a threadmil. Not used to it. To me, running 2.4 is best outdoors but on running track, I cannot make it.

Pace yourself. It's EASY to clock sub 10 for the 2.4. REALLY EASY.

I've done the treadmill ippt @ tampines few years ago.
It is a 5 degree incline, u may think not much but its uphill over 2.4km!!
Worst, u need to achieve minimum 2 pts to pass, instead of 1pt at the usual FCC.
The machine will be set at the minimum pace to achieve your 2 pts - so u can't take a breather throughout the run. if u slow down during the run, u need to make up the time before the end.
And before the run we r only given 15mins to rest, unlike the FCC where we usually get ½hour. After that experience, bedok FCC still the best.
    Good luck!

U can Forget abt it (running ippt-treadmill). Better go book ippt for the FCC. I tried once and fail b4 at tampines gym....and it right that due to the air-con....ur mouth will fill extreme dry and they charge u $1.00 for the locker. Well....I book for Maju FCC...dont need to pay anything except bus fare there and get $100 award. NEVER trust TREADMILL.

    Hi guys,

    I passed my IPPT...

Discovered that running on treadmill not so bad after all. Only incline at 2%. If you have been running on the treadmill a couple of times and manage to clear 2.4km within time limit, then the 2% don't make much difference IMHO.

I guess the only problem with treadmill is you have to run at constant speed thru the entire distance w/o the chance to slow down and rest. But I guess this is still better because any slower and the danger of failing will be there, especially if you cannot run fast enough later.

Initially, the PTI set the timing on the treadmill for you. For example, if you need to run 2.4km within 13:25 to get 2 points, he will set the constant speed that allows you to finish the distance at 13:25 sharp.

You can of course adjust the speed urself during the run, but it's risky unless you are adjusting it to run faster...
