these are the steps which i do, which i read in a thread started by Max 2.8 I assume u are using PS. These are Max 2.8's steps which i am sharing (can be found here, point number 6):
http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=114580 1) Go to image/adjustments/auto contrast if your image is too dark 2) next go to image/adjustments/channel mixer and choose red. Set red to 0 blue +100 3) go to image/adjustments/channel mixer and choose blue. set blue 0 red +100 then u should end up with blue skills and slightly yellowish/orangey trees which is my usual lot. u can try out the hue-saturation for more colour effects. But i not too sure how come yours came out so red. Mine has certain colour tone variations. Maybe not enough IR? I not too sure. need experts to explain to us ![]() I am a newbie to IR too! Jus sharing what the patient experts have been teaching me have fun! Last edited by gangeslim; 28th October 2006 at 08:17 PM. |

Your out of cam pick clearly shows that you do not have your CWB set for the IR filter. But then I think it is not possible to get a successful CWB IR setting on th E500.
I suggest you get in touch with u2nofear. He uses a Olympus E series also, shoots in RAW and have a good workflow in converting the RAW image to good IR pics. You have a very bad lens flare in your pic too. Take note, shoot with the sun behind you. That way it would eliminate lens flare. Here's my try at pp your pic. Not a good try, u2nofear should be able to do better. I guess he's in China now, hope he logs in to see this thread ![]() |

Interrupt the techie question.
Interesting looking place, where is this located? in Malaysia? Easily accessible? Lotsa flare in your picture, needs heavy touchup. Tried doing channel mixing in it, but there are too many colors refracted due to the flare best is monotone. My style, not many people like it, but here goes ![]() |

#1, you original photo is underexposed by 1 ½ to 2 stops
#2, do a custom white balance for IR #3, there is flare in your photo, either shade the lens or change the angle. |

This is quite a nice scene, too bad the flare spoiled it
I think the scene looks great when it's preserved in a sepia tone. ![]() And applying Orton Imagery works even better ![]() Always use a lens hood and try to position the camera such that the Sun is behind u. Although this might not be always possible..... |

Thanks for all the comments...Blu is only just starting to fiddle into IR.
First off, I shot into the sun. The lens hood was used but not effective. The picture was taken in Jiuzhaigou/China. Oh yes, cam is a E-330 and lens used is the 14~45 with a Hoya72 IR Filter. The cam is set at exposure -1. WB?? cannot remmember.and Ark, like you PP version the other looked out of focus...could it be me??

Hi, may I ask something....please help also....if you know
I have the P007 Conklin filter and the screw on Tokina UV filter. Can I use both at the same time? Meaning screw on the Tokina UV filter and use it together with the rectangular P007 filter? Please advice. Thanks. ![]()

Can be used but have to be careful of light leakage.

Is the light leakage because of the gap between the conklin filter? If I use the R72 Hoya than there will not be gaps or leakages right?
