Default LCD screen of SB-600

Guys,

I just bought a brand new SB-600 a few days ago.

The LCD screen cannot be viewed direct (I see a blank), I need to tilt the flash almost 90 degrees in relation to me before I can start seeing the wordings on the LCD, and even then, it is still not very clear.

I understand from the manual that the LCD is supposed to be viewed from "below", but this seems to be a bit extreme.

Is it a faulty LCD that I have or is this the norm?

Sounds faulty to me. I assume your batteries are fully charged, right?

I called the shop, they say send it back to agent. (I bought it only 4 days ago!)

Anyway, when I bought it, it was the last piece.........

I don't think I'll go back to that shop again.... although most CSers say its a good shop....
they are not getting my money anymore!!!

It definitely does not look normal. I have an SB-800 myself but then again, any flash display should not look anything like that. I'd insist on a refund if the shop does not have any more stock on hand. Did you try to reset?

before you bring it back to the shop, try adjusting your contrast of your LCD screen first. iirc, you have to hold down the "zoom" and "-" together. you might just be having low contrast with the light on... hope this helps.

Cactus: Pressing the "ZOOM" and "-" brings up the Custom Functions... I flipped thru the manual, no mention of Contrast adjustments...

No, its not that shop in Peninsula... I have had quite good encounters with that shop in Peninsula actually.

Now, need to find a free weekday to bring that Speedlight to Anson Road...

When you bought it, did you test it on the shop?

Don't worry, we learn faster by our mistake. Costly mistake. 3 years ago without test I buy handycam without test. And found there is a bright dead pixel on LCD display .

Arto.
