Default Nikon Coolpix 8800

Hi,

I'm a newbie into photo taking, btw is it a good catch to pay $800 for a secondhand "Nikon Coolpix 8800"?

or is there any better choice for a budget around $800?

for this price, it's the best choice unless you have another 1000 budget, then thing may different, but 8800's image quality is very hard to catch if your want buy a DSLR + a cheap lens.
but i suggest u get a 2nd hand 8400 instead of 8800 for wide angle, and less money, since you cannot change lens for coolpix.

Yah, its definitely a good catch. The picture quality is fantastic espeecially at low ISO setting. However, its not exactly the most user friendly camera around, although its has some improvement over my 8700.

It means the Nikon Coolpix 8800 is not really user friendly?

If compare with Compact Canon A640 which is better?

Tahnks for all your valuable inputs.........

own the 8800 b4. Only thing i'm not happy about is the super slow focusing speed in low light.

Other than that, the pic quality is good(up to ISO 200, ISO 400 is not that good already), macro also does it job well
