Default Advise on Dust Bunnies

I'm planning to get a Nikon D50 one of these days (no money). I am wondering whether any of you have cleaned your DSLRs to get rid of dust bunnies before? If yes, how frequent do you have to clean it? How often do you change your lenses?

cleaned my Nikon D200 twice after 3 months. Changing lens often, but not in windy places.

There is no exact rule, you just need to learn to clean the dusts yourself and learn to change in a not so dusty/windy environment.

Don't worry so much about dust. As long as you avoid changing lens on dusty environment, it should be long before you can see a dust bunnies. Worry more to take good photos.

If you see no dust, there is no dust problem.

Arto.

Kept changing lens during the first few months... only had 2 prime lenses to play with...

And sure enough... I had to pop by to NSC for cleaning services after about 5 months... pretty good for me so far...

It is a big problem if you shoot aeroplanes often..... the dust bunnies show up readily against the sky....

If under warranty, NSC will clean FOC..... if no warranty it is $25 + 5% Gst

Try not to change lenses too often (sometimes no choice). If you have to change, go to a clean place (sometimes also no choice)......

Thanks for all your replies!

After going to John 3:16 @ Funan, now contemplating on whether to get D50 (budget constraint) or save longer for D80.

Grrr...

If you are afraid of dust bunnies, Canon 400D may suit you.

Don't flame me... .

Read the Practical Photography recently? Even they found dust bunnies inside the 400D... it may help to reduce but not eliminate...

Haha... the amount of dust in the camera will still b the same, only thing is that it's shakened off the sensor...

Do you clean yourself? Any guide that you are current following?

Okie la... I think it's not a very problematic problem (diao). Seems to me $25 + GST everytime quite reasonable for 2 - 3 times per year.

Anyone recommend self-cleaning one?

Question Re: Advise on Dust Bunnies

Talking about cleaning.
I have a spare diving regulator* lying under my bed and I can rent diving cylinder** from a friend's diving company for about $10. I am just wondering if I could use a blowgun*** for lenses and cameras.
Is that such thing that the air would be too strong?

You can use a squeeze blower to try blowing the dust off. Should be able to get rid some of the dust.

I think if you want to use compressed air, make sure it is dry and there's no condensation. I used to have the luxury of using piped dry N2 gas to clean optics in my previous company.
