Default Anyone has any problems with the flip LCD for Canon A series and older G series?

Hi,

I was told that the flip LCD tend to have issues or prone to breakage after some usage (1-2 yrs?) and need replacing. Anyone has this issue? This is the only factor I'm considering in either getting a A640 or G7. Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks,
george

My G5 still functioning well. Oh by the way, the G7 doesn't come with this feature.

Good to hear ur G5 and the other G2 from the other forumner is still ok. I know the G7 does not have this. I was thinking if the flip LCD on A640 is going to be a potential problem and needs replacing, I will get the G7 instead.

I like the flip LCD as this helps with bad lighting during macro at times. I can move the camera ard the subject to get a good pic without trying to move myself(head) with the cam to try to see the LCD.

I have no problems to this day with my G1( ) bought a thousand years ago or my A610 bought about a year ago. Good cameras. Still using both.

Flip LCD feels like camcorder. Very flexible and opens up for more creative compositions that aren't limited by your physique so much like super low angle or super high angle.

so far no prob wif current and previous cams (2 yrs +)......it is a feature that once you used it, you might not want to buy another cam without it liao...

My 3 year old G3 flip died once. Well, it was the LCD that went bad. I dismantled it (thinking that it might be some loose connector) but it was really the LCD that went back.

All in all, the G3 LCD was really well built. I got it repaired and so far it's been great! Cost was $115 at Canon Service Centre.

Same with my Powershot A620. I love the flip screen for its agility. My next digicam would probably be the S3IS in order to take advantage of the important IS feature.
