Hi there.
Just curious about what batteries you guys are using. Have been considering rechargeables for quite a long time but always don't like the idea of buying 30 pieces (3 sets of 10) at one shot. Also, is there a good charger which can charge 10 batteries at one go? To anyone using Alkalines/rechargeables, which brand do you normally use? |

You can go for Maha Powerex MH-C801D Eight Cell 1-Hr Charger + 8 x 2700AA in the above link from EastGear. You should be able to get extra packs of 4pcs at $15.00 if you neg with them. |

Thanks Don for the recommendation. Too bad it only takes 8 batteries at once. It'll be more troublesome if i want to charge all 30 batteries at once.
Is there any charger that takes in 10 batts at once? |

Y waste so...... much $$ on rechargeable battery??? Follow me,use quantum battery 1+ for ur SB800. Recharge time much much faster & even more economic... Dun need to charge them so often.. 1 time investment can lasts u for 5 years @ least. I have used mine for more than 5years..

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Yeah, had thought of Quantum before but it's kind of big and still pretty expensive. Maybe will keep in view on the suggested charger...it seems expensive too.
For those of you who still use alkalines, do you have any preferred brand? |

I've just switched from Sanyo to Powerex and I am very pleased with the switch. You can leave the Powerex in the SB800 for quite a long time and they stay charged. They don't get too hot whilst charging either. Would whole-heartedly recommend them.

Never use (buy) alkaline rechargeable batteries. This old technology still exists but after few cycles they have no juice, plus it is a dangerous technoly (risk of explosion, any big brands use this technology).Better use NiMh AA batteries. Now if time, technology, quality are on top of your requirements, buy Varta 15 minute charger. The price just dropped ($39 for a 2 batteries charger incl. 2 AA). 2 extra AA 15 minute = $11.90. But i saw they have 4 batteries charger too ($59) . So a quick calculation: SB800 = 4 batteries. in 30 minutes your batteries are ready (fully charged) to use, with the 2 batteries cahrger or 15 minute with the 4 batteries charger. Less than the time you need to take a shower and dress !!! I use it since 1.5 years now, (SB600), and it is perfect. It is always in my bag when i travel, it is compact . i know other brands claim 15 minute too. But have a look on the back side of the blister then you will see it is not (minimum of 25min for 2 batteries only). As written above, very fast charging means hot batteries (very hot, ouch !!). With this charger quality is there. They can charge AAA too. And if you have other rechargeables batteries from other brands no problem (or Varta but not 15 minute),then the charging time will 1 one. (Which is fast too). |
