HI all,
I have found this lens, Tokina AF 80-200mm f2.8 - AT-X 828 AF PRO to be quite useful after the launch of Tokina 16-50mm f2.8 next year. Has any seniors here used this Tokina 80-200mm f2.8 before? I know it has differences between Canon L so spare me the comparations betwwen Tokina and Canon L. I just need feedbacks from this Tokina piece before making any final decisions. ![]() Thanks all... Bye. ![]()

Good lens at affordable price, has been using for the past 7 to 8 years. Do not intent to sell too.
Secondly, I only trust Tokina the third party lens. REgards chunsan |

By the way, the focus speed fast, slow or noisy? I certainly like to own one as an alternative to EF 70-200mm f2.8 L USM... Cheers...

Sorry OT abit. Comparing this lens with the Nikon 80-200mm F2.8, which lens produced better image? I am thinking is it worthwhile to get a new Tokina lens or a second hand Nikon Lens.

For Nikon or Canon Mount, is there price diffence?

Images are softer than Nikon 80 - 200 when taking 200mm at f2.8 to 4.5. Requires some pp. Want to buy, haha buy from me if you don't mind slightly soft images

Unfortunately I need the Canon Mount... but compared to EF 70-210mm f3.5-4.5 (which I have and rumoured to be a half L), I wonder how the Tokina will fare cos the images profuced are fantasic... at f5.6 even best...

some points to consider:
there have been complaints of it being soft wide open the AF is slower than AFS or USM(ring) the build quality is good the tripod collar should be screw on type. the price is lower than original brand. the size is slight smaller than original brand |

Just remember one thing KRW said, "Amateurs worry too much about sharpness and noise." or something to that effect.

i found a way to fix the soft images from 2.8 up to 4.5, get an ND4 filter, it removes the glowy effect from the shots, sharpens the pics by a whole lot... it also ensures proper exposure... dunno y i feel that this lens tends to go abit overexposed at 2.8 - 4.5 resulting in the blur, without the filter there may also be a purpulish ghost image in some shots as a result of its inadequacy to capture light that bounces back properly.
