My experience with the Canon 400D dust reduction system on the 400D...
Shutter count is definitely lesser than 500 and lens mount/unmount for lesser than 5 times and I find these... Wondering what the camera is doing... ![]() |

1. Best to set on manual with a long exposure on a white subject eg paper. But your shot looks like dust to me anyway. But better to confirm for sure
2. Is the anti dust set to on? 3. Maybe it doesn't work that well! |

The dust start to appear at F8 and the dust reduction thingie was set to ON mode.
Change lenses only indoor and brought it out only once to Ubin however the lens mounted/unmounted at home before going out and back home. Only reason (more to an "excuse") I can explain to myself is the haze where the air contain lotsa dust these days... (poor haze to be blamed) |

Use the dust-delete software?
BTW, is it always there in the pic? Maybe it is a sticky dust. |

Oh no! Sure they are not markings on the wall
The dust-cleaning system is supposed to turn on automatically as soon as the camera is turned on unless you press the shutter button right? Then it's rather disappointing! I guess it's dust reduction and not dust elimination, then have to use the software to remove - which is also a bit... something that I don't really want to do! So conclude that the 400D dust cleaning is not effective? |

i have a lot of dust in my 400D as well. but then that doesn't affect normal image quality. i have to stop to f/22 to get all the dust appearing after auto levels. try mirror lockup and use a blower and keep blowing air into the camera.

I think we all need to learn how to DIY cleaning of the sensor.
So the 400D dust redution does not eliminate dust. Anyway I don't think it is the haze - the particles are probably too small to appear. |
