Inspired by the post from "Meow Meow"
who showed us sample pics taken with the L1 (and assumingly with the 14-50mm "the real L" lens )... this brings me to think... should we merge the sections of the forums because it will be a pain to cross reference section and especially to those who are not familiar with 4/3 system. After all, the forums is a place for many to find information and if the information is all over the place, then it does not serve its purpose. As it is, the Four Thirds System is unique on it's own... Camera bodies from Leica, Panasonic, and Olympus have the same mount and lenses from Zuiko Digital, Leica, Sigma, and accessories and mounts makers like Novoflex Germany are all supporting the platform... so now what? It is going to be a mess in the future when more companies join in the Four Thirds Family. Should we have a merged Leica - Olympus - Panasonic section, or a new Four Thirds Section (separating the PnS from the DSLRs at the same time) for the sake of consolidating all news and discussions with the Four Thirds. What do you think? Last edited by microcosm; 24th October 2006 at 12:35 PM. |

Voted for a new FOUR THIRDS sub-forum.
Consolidation is the way to go.

The purpose of this is to get the general consensus before presenting it to the forum admins. Better that we have an idea of what everyone wants instead of individually writing to the admin and clogging up his PM and email inbox. What you folks feel?
For those fans of the 4/3 consortium, finding info is easy since we are always on the lookout for the latest happenings but those who are new to the 4/3 system, they will be pleased to find a place where "all things 4/3" can be found in one section of ClubSNAP. So I urge everyone who use this section to post what they feel... and if it is a go ahead in here, then we might also seek the opinion of the Pana/Leica section folks and ask them how they feel. If we can all agree, then it will make the CS admin life easier. Last edited by microcosm; 24th October 2006 at 12:47 PM. |

I voted for a new 4/3 section. It will be easier when we want to look up for more info's or discuss anything regarding this system.

Would be nice not to have to wade through the non E-system (P&S) messages.

A 4/3 sub section would be better.

4/3 is not the same as one camera brand, it is just the lens fittings and sensor format. It is wrong to just have one subforum for all. Personally I don't care what problems there are or which techniques are to be used for this and that with Panasonic or Leica cameras. Interesting to know about alternative lenses but that is about all. Actually, I don't know if Leica/Panasonic lenses are 100% compatible with Oly cameras. If the subforums are merged it will be just too huge to handle.

Compatibility of Panasonic DSLR/lenses with Olympus and Sigma's Four-Third range can be found here:

Hi guys, thanks for helping with the voting, the CS admin felt that it does make sense to consolidate all the Four Thirds DSLR series of products so now... the new Four Thirds Section is up. If possible, post all the DSLR/Four Thirds range of products from Olympus, Panasonic and Leica into that section so that we can have all the info related to 4/3 in one section ok?
Once again, thank you for voting and sharing your views. |
