hi, just bought a S9600. noticed that there's a 9MP normal and 9MP fine mode, for the fine mode, files saved are around 4Mb plus and normal mode around half the file size...
after comparing a few shots in both modes, seems like the difference on the monitor is not really great.... or maybe i did not compare them close enough... which mode do you guys save in? |

if you do not intend to do large prints, then normal mode will still do.

"normal" and "fine" normally refers to the amount of compression that takes place when the image is saved as a JPEG. That's why the "normal" file is half the size. They have the same pixels.
Test out both settings on the same picture, using a tripod if you can. I expect that the difference between the settings will be quite hard to see at anything less that a S8R print. And then the difference will just be in the fine details. |

Most people will use Large/Fine unless memory storage is a problem. if I am travelling for an extended period, I might go to Large/Normal or if memory really gets to be a problem, drop the filesize to Medium.
