I'm using an el cheapo Suntax flash. The one with the dual flash but I use the main flash only.
Set to cam manual, set the flash to full power, use a bounce card and fire away. Oh and adjust the shutter arperture to taste. Normally aperture 4.0 - 5.6, shutter speed 1/30-1/100 depending on lighting situation and ISO to 200. Given a choice I'd like to own the latest pentax flash but... you know lah.... $$$$$$$ so beggars can't be choosers. this is one shot that I took when experimenting, think it is aperture priority mode but somehow got the shot that I wanted. ![]() |

Feng Wei, you referring to the EF 500 right? Do we know how much they cost in the market? I think the pentax one cost close to 550!
Someone told me to look in yahoo auctions, but I was too late. The 360 one is taken up. |

on thing about the 360 is that it can't swivel horizontally.
I'd pay a "bit" more for the 540. |

Do you know how much is Tiong selling his Af360? Anyone here knows if the current range of flashes are compatible with the K100D? This camera is not listed in their " compatibility" list. Thanks |

If u r buying 2nd hand sigma flashes (i.e. EF500) make sure it is the DG ver. I hv the non DG ver and it over exposes badly. I hv to constandly adjust the flash comp n since i m using a DS, it is very troublesome to go thru the funct menu 4 every shot i took

Sorry Idon't know how much Tiong was asking for. You might wanna PM him Current Pentax flashes that work w/ K100D: AF360 and AF540. These two are P-TTL flashes. Save up for the 540 flash if you use flash a lot, especially for portrait ... Good luck ![]() |

wow!! I finally got my hands on an AF360 flash. Maybe I have not been spoilt by the 540 like some of you, but the 360 is really light years ahead of my non-TTL Emobilitz flash!
Whereas the Emobilitz overexposed everything at close range, the 360's variable output correctly illuminated the pentax box 40 cm from my camera as well as a table 4 m away. If only I had bought this earlier for my office party shoot...but I guess that's how we learn... ![]() The instruction manual had me worried there because it failed to mention a DSLR and kept on talking about "film". I downloaded the latest version 2 and thankfully it mentioned istDL but not K100D. The older manual seem to indicate I need to do some settings like setting the "film size". Can I assume this is all automatic when using the K100D? The flash menu certainly looks complicated. Looks like I will be using it in defaul mode most of the time. ![]() |
