Hi all,
I'm a beginner at IR and am still figuring this white balance thing out. I am wondering if it is possible, instead of doing a preset white balance in the camera, can you to do the ir white balance adjustments in your photo editor (eg, iphoto). I tried to adjust the white balance for some photos I took without a custom white balance but iphoto doesn't let me go below 2000k. So the pics are still red. Is it a must to do the preset white balance in the camera when taking IR shots? I am shooting RAW. Also does anyone else have this problem with iPhoto, when viewing IR shots with custom white balance done on the camera, the picture first appears alright (white foilage) then after a few secs, turns pink. It seems to me that iPhoto can't show an image with white balance below 2000k. Thanks. |

perhaps you should post some samples of the original IR photos first. If you are shooting in RAW, i'd recommend the Rawshooter Essential http://www.pixmantec.com/products/ra...essentials.asp Get it before Adobe stops the free downloads ![]() |

Thanks for your reply Ark19,
I'm thinking that it is a limitation of iPhoto to make wide changes to white balance. If you forget to make a custom white balance before taking IR shots, are you able to make the corrections in Rawshooter or some other photo editing program? Too bad rawshooter isn't avaliable for mac users... |

Oh.... mac....
Maybe you can check with Max or Panda. Rawshooter is able to correct the WB by using the dropper to select the grey portion in the photo. Maybe you can check if GIMP has a mac version... |
