Hi guys,
Sorry gotta start a new thread. Nice outing to Matilda House this time. However, after PP, i still find my photos lack a punch in colors. Hope you guys can help out a bit. I posted an orginal and a edit photo below. Feel free to edit the orginal pic. Hope you can add the workflow u performed to achieve an edited IR pic. Thanks alot man!! Orginal unedited photo.... ![]() After my simple workflow as follows: 1) Adjust levels 2) Adjust 's' curve 3) Channel mixer 4) USM Result of editing.... ![]() I did not try hue/saturation as Im still not familar with it. always messed up the colors when i tried that action. I was wondering if its my PP process or is that the orginal photo already is not well take? as in over expose thus missing out the highlights/shadows? realli do hope theres a workflow sharing session one of these days as brought up during the last outing. I realli think it wil be beneficial as another part of IR shooting is also about post-processing. Thanks! |

Hi StanGetz,
Here's my shot at post-processing your pix: ![]() Not much diff. I find your pix abit overexpose for me. So what I did is a auto level, then I use curse to make it slightly darker, so there's more mid-tone. Then in Hue/Saturation, I adjust the cyan channel to make it more blue and increase the saturation by 20% in the Master channel. I didn't remove the yellowish grass because I kinda feel yellowish grass works for this shot. Cheers Max 2.8 |

Not much of a PP guy but your workflow is pretty much the same as mine.
1) Auto levels (done in PS) 2) Channel mixer (done in PS) 3) Curve (done in ACDSee) 4) Highlight / Shadow (done in ACDSee) I don't do USM and all the others. Can you set the WB to a lower value like 2000 instead of 2500, it might be better but not sure. |

my work flow:
1) Swap IR, 2) Duplicate Layer 3) Layer 1: Color Balance: Shadow: (add blue/green cast) 4) Layer 2: Color Balance: Shadow: (add magenta or red cast to taste) 5) Layer 2: Random erase with large Natural Faux Brush flow:30% 6) Merger Layer 7) Add vignetting to taste 8) linear dodge with a tissue paper (20% opacity) 9) merge all layer. ![]()

After applying IR_share action, and applying curves to darken the pic:
![]() Con't with OI action(available in ark19.info) and curves to darken: ![]() Not much diff from what u did but actually with the haze blocking the Sun and blurring the skies, it's difficult to shoot well exposed IR photos. |
