    Default what causes vignetting?

other than polarizers / filters? lighting direction? any chance a lens hood may cause it too?
i use a slim b+w cpl + the canon lens hood at 17mm and there is obvious vignetting at the corners. what could be the reason?

Basically... anything which may obscure the image at a wider angle can cause vignetting...

Usage of a DX lens on a non-DX camera, filters, lens hoods, etc... all these can contribute to the dark corners of the picture
