welcomed gooseberry i believe the aim is to help more people understand that HDR is a tool for image making, not an end in itself.

hmm.. when does hdr ends and composites start..
taking pics at vastly different times and combining them... is it considered HDR?

good question! i don't know the universal answer as well

but for me, as long as the reality of the scene is altered, it's composite. and reality of the scene meaning any possible condition/matter that can occur within the exact same scene.

so if a picture is created out of combining 2 photographs of the same scene but at vastly different times, it's still a photograph for me.

    picture A1 (landscape A at 9am) + picture A2 (landscape A at 5pm) = photograph

but if, say, a picture of a landscape and a picture of a person are merged together, as long as the picture of the person was not photographed within the exact same scene of the landscape, it's a composite, even though that person has the ability to be at the scene.

    picture A (landscape A) + picture B1 (lanscape A with person B inside) = photograph

    picture A (landscape A) + picture B2 (person B at another place) = composite
