Default B&W chemistry on colour and slide films?

Recently got hold of some expired 8x10 slides and colour negatives. Currently i only have B&W chemicals at home. Read online that it is possible to develop colour films/slides in B&W chemistry and still see some images while some say cant. Conflicting information. Have anyone tried it before? Do share some comments. Does singapore do 8x10 E6 or C41 processing? If so, where can i find it and how much would it cost per sheet?

My post will not help you: its the first time I've heard of processing colour film in B&W chemistry. I know that there's some B&W film that can be processed in C41, but it doesn't seem to be what you're after. That being said, I tried to google up something on the web (which I'm sure you had) but nothing interesting. From what I know, the chemical composition of a colour film is different from B&W, so the b&w chemical might not work at all.

Since you have nothing to lose (assuming that you dont mind losing the image), and looks like theres not too many gurus here who's tried it either, why dont you try it out and let us know. How long to process? Just shoot I guess, if nothing at all comes out, then probably it doesn't work at all. At least when we're in that situation in the future we know what to do.

I've tried that many years back with a roll of fuji 120 ( think it was provia ).
If I remembered correctly, I push process for about 2 mins and the image that I got was a low contrast slide with some fog on the white ( image was a recopy work on white B/G and the white is not transparent enough ). The low contrast was about 40% or the org.

Hope it helps.
