Hi fellow Sony users,
Want to ask a question about Sony's Alpha 100 DSLR. I am currently keeping a Minolta SLR and a whole bunch of Minolta compatible lens in dry store. Can I use these lens on Sony's Alpha 100? Is there compatibility isue? I don't wanna waste my lens, some of them are very decent stuff! (cost me $$$$)

I have an Alpha 100. The lens I had been using were from the 700si vintage. So far no problem.
Lens :- 1. Sigma 28-70 f2.8 2. Sigma 70-210 f2.8 3. Sigma 17-35 f2.8 - F3.5 4. Minolta Macro 100 f2.8 You will be surprise that the 5400xi flash can be fired using the Alph-100 but has no control. |

This would help... alternatively you could choose to give your lens to me.. i just started out with A100 only have kit lens so won't mind keeping your 'waste' lens |

All minolta AF lens should work on sony a100. and if u still keep good old minolta lens, they r definitely better than what sony currently selling.
but if u not keeping these old lens, quickly offer for sale leh![]() |

Most likely should not have any problem. One sure way is to bring some of the important lens that you want to be sure can be used on the new body to the shop and try it out before buying.
If you cannot find a shop that is willing to let you test on the A-100, let me know and we can arrange to test out your lens. Another option is to list out the lens you have and some of us who had used it on the A-100 will be able to tell you if there is any problem. The compatibility chart listed by mastermind can give you an idea as well.

the only problem you may have is with the mount. the older minoltas use a D-mount, while the current ones and the A100 use the A-mount. you'd need a converter to use those older lenses - such converters are rare but on ebay you can occassionally get one for about $200+. you'll also lose AF for these lenses.

Hi,
I am not familiar with the Minolta System. I have the Minolta Maxxum 5000 sets that was passed to me from a friend. With this set, there are the following 2 lenses: 1) Minolta Maxxum AF ZOOM 35-70 1:4 (22) Macro Zoom 2) Sigma UC 70-210, f4-5.6, minolta mount Are they comparable with the new Sony Alpha 100? Also, is the remote controller RC-1000 compatible with the new system? Regards. |
