i'm very tempted in getting the HDD.
    only cons are the
    1)price
2)if it crash, all my pics in it go lokang
    3)additional load(compared to a CF card)
Let me offer you another alternative, shoot RAW with Large JPEG together... D200 can do this, so if you won't bring a notebook go get the HDD Viewer or rent lah, see under Consumer section sometimes got people rent out, if no... make a new thread WTR.

1st, too expensive.more than 1k to get a carbon fibre legs + head.
2nd, dun want to be too flashy carrying too much gear.in fact, nw i thinking of just brining the canon ixus 700.

i normally bring my slik table pod, its better then having nothing

or if you don't mind china made CF tripods, you can consider

feisol or benro, you can see and touch at john 3:16

bring me lor, then don't need to worry about flashy stuff or heavy tripod
also can do TFCD for you in japan

j316 will be the VERY last shop on my mind.
dont ask why.i'm sick of answering...

small tripods arent really useful lei.

last time when i was walking with F5, i pull dustbins to place it on top, then use my handbag to support the lens....

just go there and see and touch, buy from elsewhere

    they have both brands there

good idea about the handbag to act as a sandbag for support

i bought another 4GB Sandisk ultraII liao at $205

dont tell me i'm being slaughtered again, cos i've been asking and the lowest i've gotten was 208.

so i have 8GB for my jap trip.
but still cant shoot raw.i tried popping in a 2GB card last night.with RAW and JPEG LARGE fine, can only shoot 70+ pics.

i dont even want to step into that shop no more.

friendly?ya.that's because they see you as walking monies.

i definitely prefer to walk into a shop, get my stuff, pay up, walk out.
sometimes it doesnt pay to be toooooooo friendly and in the end, they take you for granted.

    period.
