must shop around, the prices at SLS change daily

go to SLS with 1 thing in mind

ask about prices from shop to shop and buy the cheapest, but make sure that it is not parallel imported or you will face problems when you want to claim waranty.

    also beware of fakes

can advice what reso u guys usually shoot at for travelling?
i use jpeg fine large file.is it overkill if i dont print them?
dun tell me shoot raw pls.i havent reach the stage on how to process the pics digitally.

i only have a 2GB mem card.for 8 days trips, you guys think it's enough?

and if i already have 18-200, will getting a 12-24 nikon makes any difference?is the distortion bad at 12-15mm?cant justify spending 1.6k for this baby though i very gian.

any advice for travel photos?big aperture values?

once you shoot raw, u will never change back, but PC processing is a problem if you do not have batch editing fuction software like photoshop. RAW will give you more tolerance to correct your mistake.
I suggest you shoot RAW + JPG(small), JPG is just for quick reviewing to decide whether its RAW file is worth to further retouching or not.
2GB may not enough, nowadays the new cameras are all very high file size, sigh~
4GB and 8GB is safe to cover to whole trip but expensive.........
however, compare with your trip expense, it is worth.
which camera u r using? if it is a new model

    extracted from Sandisk website

CompactFlash® Nikon D200 displays a CHA and a "THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED" error message when the CF card is full.

    Answer ID: 367 Created: 06/14/2006 Updated: 06/15/2006
For Products: Flash Memory -> All CompactFlash®
Flash Memory -> All CompactFlash® Type II
Professional Memory Cards -> All Extreme™ III CompactFlash
Professional Memory Cards -> All Ultra CompactFlash®
Professional Memory Cards -> All Ultra® II CompactFlash®
    Category(s): Digital Still

    Answer
After filling a CompactFlash card in the Nikon D200, a "CHA" error may appear on the top LCD.

If you press the playback button on the camera while the "CHA" error message is blinking you will get another error message on the main LCD that is shown below.

The quickest way to clear the “CHA” message is to turn off* your camera and then turn it back on. This should allow the pictures to be viewed when the playback button is pushed.

If the user prefers not to turn off the camera, then wait for the “CHA” message to stop blinking (approximately 30 seconds) and press the playback button.

At this time it is believed this issue is camera related, so be sure to keep your camera firmware up to date by checking the Nikon website.

*CAUTION: Only turn off the camera when the busy light is not on, which means the camera is done writing to the card.

and if i shoot raw, is there alot of post processing to be done?eg, white balance?
    AND
does WB matters when i shoot raw cos i heard it can be altered in ps?so do i switch my WB to auto?

Then it makes sense now... You do know that if you shoot RAW it takes 15M per file right? 4G gives you just slightly more than 250 photos.

If you really want to take all you want without limitation of your memory cards, invest in one of those HDD Viewer like Vosonic or Epson whichever you fancy. Then you are no more limited by the memory cards but by your harddisk space. Unless if you are also bringing your notebook lah then no point getting the HDD Viewer or without the viewer also can.

    from this link

    https://www.customernation.com/pls/p...6&p_parm=PSHPP

first "Select your product category:" - click on the "professional line" picture
then "Select a product group:" - Extreme III CompactFlash®
then Select your product model: - click on "Extreme III CompactFlash® 2GB"

    then click on "self help"
    and lastly click on

Nikon D200 displays a CHA and a "THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED" error message when the CF card is full.

    or just use this link

    from what SD says

"The quickest way to clear the “CHA” message is to turn off* your camera and then turn it back on. This should allow the pictures to be viewed when the playback button is pushed.

If the user prefers not to turn off the camera, then wait for the “CHA” message to stop blinking (approximately 30 seconds) and press the playback button. "

it seems that the images will still be there
but look at their wording, they also won't guarentee

i want to shoot raw yet i'm afraid to handle the post processing on CS.

if i shoot raw, can i pass it to the printer without telling him anything to print out the pics?(without any post processing?)

i'm very tempted in getting the HDD.
    only cons are the
    1)price
2)if it crash, all my pics in it go lokang
    3)additional load(compared to a CF card)
