anyone has any experience in sending their sigma lens for calibration in Singapore? How long does it takes? Do you need to bring your camera body along? is it really better after calibration? thanks.

It took them 1 ~ 2 weeks to service that. It was lucky that their Japanese counterpart had sent them equipment to rectify my problem. Or else it takes 1 month. Please bring your camera body because they would say that it's your camera body backfocusing... blah blah.. before they do anything. Overall, their service is not too bad. |

hi! i have just sent in my lens for servicing. It had some backfocusing problems. let me tell you the step by step instuction you have to do.
1. Make an apointment. Without appointment, you might risk a wasted trip there if the technician is busy. (I made this mistake, so have to go twice) 2. Bring both your camera and faulty lens, not forgetting the camera mount cap as you dun want dust to enter when you are bringing the camera without the lens home. When there, they will take the lens and body inside to do some shots. Might take some time. After that, it goes two ways: 1. Your lens is fixed on the spot. 2. Your lens cannot be fixed on the spot(which was what happened in my case). What they will do(according to them) is that the test pictures will be sent to japan and some parts will be shipped back to singapore to fix your lens. For your reference, i sent my lens on 26/9 last tuesday. I just called then today, and the parts have just arrvived, so monday would be the collection day. So total time taken would be about two weeks. PS. the 7D is working great. Thanks for selling me!![]() |

I had sent my Sigma lens to Sigma Centre for calibration.
As mentioned by Satay16, call first to make appointment. When you call get your lens serial number ready as from the serial number they will know if the lens need re-chipping or just software calibration (writing the lens data). Fortunately, mine is a recent lens and just need calibration to the body. The technician confirmed that they will not do anything to the body. It took mine about 1 hr to do testing and calibration. I even waited in their office when they did the calibration. They showed me the before calibration shot and after. My lens no longer has front-focusing problem after calibration, so it is worth sending. After all, it's your money you put on that lens!! Overall the service is great. |

just called them today. they say call back on monday to make appointment. mine is a very new lens. it front focus by about 1 cm at the tele end with max apeture when focus at about 1m (the minimum focusing distance). beyond 2m when the DOF is deep enough, it is fine. have been wondering whether to send for calibration or not as scare later become worse. anyone with such negative experience? |
