Hi, after browsing thru the moon pic, would really like to try shooting moon, I have a Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8, think it won't be sufficiant, what kind of tele-converter that is suitable for my lens for moon shoot ? what is the estimated street price ?

you can try the kenko one... the 2x will degrade the image quality slightly while the 1.4x does give reach, so up to you to decide one.

200mm + 1.4x TC will only give you 280mm. 200mm + 2.0x TC will only be 400mm. Depend how large the size of moon in your frame, both may not meet your needs. 2.0x TC will degrade more. Both will still be able to AF with your 80-200mm f2.8.

I have a huge suspicion that using the 2x TC on 200mm lens is still not gonna be enough to get a big moon on your photo...

Thanks all, read someway that there is a 1.7 TC but forgotten what brand, claimed to be one of the better one to fit on a 80-200mm, is that true ?

The only 1.7x TC I know is Nikon TC-17E II. Kenko has a 1.5x. Kenko pro-series consist of 1.4x, 2x & 3x. Can't really think of any other brands TC with 1.7x. (Of course, pentax, olympus and canon all have 1.7x TC but not applicable here.)
