PP done was according to max2.8's instruction. have not much time to experiment because of various assignments coming this week. will use it more often after that. anyway. ![]() taken in hwa chong JC. lol. looks OOF. i guess i will need to focus without the filter then shoot with R72 on. shall try it soon enough ![]()

Focus looks fine at this size. How's the exposure? Shutter speed, aperture, ISO? |

Not too bad....That means if you use f5.6, ISO200 or even 400, you should shorten your exposures to about 8 secs...
Make use of the low noise high ISO of Canon's sensor, can go higher ISO to shorten the exposure time. Should be fine. |

wah... 30sec exposure for a daytime shot is too long. is this inherent to canon lenses?

For IR with an unmodified Canon I think this is normal.

Not the lens lol! Its the super-duper hot-mirror filter in front of the sensor.

hot mirrors are supposed to block away unwanted light in the spectrum like ultra-violet and infra-red so your image won't be contaminated by them. Although so, some infrared and ultraviolet light will still be recorded in a prolonged exposure.
So in order record infrared light with the hot mirror on, a IR pass filter like Hoya R72, is used to block away visible light, allowing only IR light to pass through. But because of the hot mirror blocking the IR light, a longer exposure is need to record IR light. Hope this is layman enough. |

for ir photography, the focus line indicator is futher away from the normal one you use. take a closer look on your lens, you should be able to find it.
