Sigma MACRO 50mm F2.8 EX DG

is this lens out yet? has anyone used it before?
how does it compare to the Canon 50mm/1.8 mk2?

it should be out, i believe.

macro lenses are generally sharper than 'normal' lenses. it will be sharper than the ef 50mm II @ f/1.8, but the cons are that you lose that one stop of light, and also that macro lenses focus slower.

maybe you could go to the shop, try out a macro lens' focusing and see if you're happy with the speed.
