Me thinks, that way just look like LightSphere without the top dome, so the exposure should be similar lah, my 2 cents.

    i think it's different.
LS has this dome on top that deflects light into the ribs of the cylindrical diffuser.

flipit doesnt have it, hence light is shot up to-however-high-your-ceiling is.
so, IMHO, i think it will be even more underexpose(assuming you dont +your flash output).
    i maybe wrong

The card that can be flipped is to decrease/increase flash power. If the ceiling is low, you pull back the card so the light can be bounced. If the ceiling is high, you push forward the card for more power You don't have to increase your flash output.

This shot was taken with the card flipped back someways, because I didn't need a lot of power to get the effect I wanted to

Sorry did I type it wrongly, I meant like LS without the top. So the flash lit the ceiling and bounce, back and bounce if there is a wall and forward diffused flash. Anyhow that's what I see anyway.

I have owned the flipit for a couple of months now, even before the pro version is introduced. And thanks to the inventor, Joe Demb himself, which send me the additional diffuser for free when it was introduced.

The main advantage of the flipit is that it is able to control the intensity of the flash by changing the angle of the bounce card. Tilt the card toward you for softest light & tilt forward when you need more intense flash or when there is no ceiling. Or simply pull the card all the way back when u need direct flash. All these can be done without removing the card. I don't think there is any diffuser currently which offers so much versatility.

The translucent diffuser is good for close-up & protrait shoots just like the GFLS but at a fraction of its weight (or maybe less). When additional power is required, just push the card towards the diffuser (act like the GFLS's Dome) or remove the diffuser totally.

    Hi,

I went to PPCP to try and check out the Flip-It. But after asking 2 of the sales, none knew about such thing. Is there another name that the sales knew the product by? Or are they no longer carrying the product? Anyone able to provide details on where to get hold of it?

Just order it online at http://www.dembflashdiffusers.com/ - it's cheaper, you get it delivered to your doorstep fairly quickly too.

Hi guys, just got my flip-it for my SB600 today.
Quick question, which mode do I set the flash to TTL BL or just standard TTL? Is there any difference in the end result for the two modes with the flip-it attached?
    Thanks in advance.

so can change orientation from portrait to landscape by just twisting the FlipIt? Bcos I find my bounce card very troublesome, have to pull it off the velcro and then put it on the other side ....

You can set it to TTL straight cheers!

And, you just turn the camera... no need to touch the flip-it at all!
