I supposed there'll even be an 18-300mm lens launched in next year's event. I wonder if lenses with such an extremely wide zoom-range is of good quality as compared to prime lenses.

I still think it's more impressive than the Tamron 18-250mm. The Sigma will be one of those that you can actually hand hold and use due to the OS. And it's the first non-EX lens to have OS technology.

Example, leica for decade will not make AF lens, what happen was a buy out as too much has lost cause ppl are just not buying. Now with the new management AF is in most of their product. |

The problem with Tamron is that lenses are not their main money maker unlike Sigma, which is why they are not willing to spend that much on R&D. Their other dept are making a lot more money for them...
As for Tokina you already know what their biggest business is. |
