I supposed there'll even be an 18-300mm lens launched in next year's event. I wonder if lenses with such an extremely wide zoom-range is of good quality as compared to prime lenses.

I still think it's more impressive than the Tamron 18-250mm. The Sigma will be one of those that you can actually hand hold and use due to the OS. And it's the first non-EX lens to have OS technology.

Looking at it carefully, its still painted with the same EX finish, just the gold ring sticker in not there. Actually there are also quite a few non EX lenses with this problematic paint finish.

Tamron & Tokina will lose out sooner or later if they still does not willing to include IS/VR and USM/AFS.

Example, leica for decade will not make AF lens, what happen was a buy out as too much has lost cause ppl are just not buying. Now with the new management AF is in most of their product.

The problem with Tamron is that lenses are not their main money maker unlike Sigma, which is why they are not willing to spend that much on R&D. Their other dept are making a lot more money for them...

As for Tokina you already know what their biggest business is.
