Sigma becomes the first camera maker to release a PnS with an APS sized sensor. Final specs are still not confirmed, but it should be a fixed 28mm f4 lens, no hot shoe, a 230K lcd screen, movie mode, may have anti-shake and maybe a few other things not mentioned.
May be a PnS, but the APS sized sensor is gonna make the images from the F30 look less attractive and all other PnS look very poor. Of course, there are functionalities that are found in other cameras that are definitely better, but wouldn't image quality stand above the rest as can be seen the popularity of the F30? If the price is right relative to the specs, i'd buy it. Nothing beats a portable PnS with movie mode for everyday use. A DSLR will always be better in most sense, but there were film PnS that in the past that were better than film SLRs where image quality was concerned. The Yashica T5, the Ricoh GR series, the Contax T3, the Leica Minilux and CM etc. So why not a PnS with the capability to match image quality to that of a DSLR, after all, the drawback of today's digital PnS has always been with the sensor size disadvantage. So what's your take on this PnS? http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/cda/st...27/sigma02.jpg |

Yes, if price is right. APS-C on a compact body is great news! Digi compacts may be small, but their sensors are also very miniscule. Night shots tend to be terrible, poor noise, lacking detail.
The DP-1 definitely looks very promising.
