Hi,
Just came back from Sipadan last week. Unfortunatey the visibility was not that good due to a typhoon on Tues night that stirred up the water....The bungalows were shaking under the strong wind and rainwater sipped in and wet the bed... Here are some shots I have taken during the trip. Please give me your comments and tell me how you would have taken to make them better. Thanks! Giant Frog Fish (almost 30cm long) ![]() Bearded Scorpionfish ![]() Nudibranch ![]() Nudibranch showing it's 'middle finger'. ;-p ![]() The rest of the photos can be found here: http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/554384729tbNVjt The usual, C&C are most welcome please. :-) Last edited by TwilightZone; 27th September 2006 at 11:27 AM. |

Excellent photos! I especially like the way you lit the nudi, you got someone to hold the strobe for you?
You've done much better than me (judging from the photos) when I last visited Sipadan in 2003. IMHO the giant frogfish photo is overexposed. Try using the curve function and drag the midpoint down a few points. |

got to keep adjusting the strobe to keep the subject at the centre of light source. Using Inon D2000 thanks to Brother Photosmart. It has a focus light so I know where to aim my strobe.Yeah, the frogfish was overexposed alright. trying all sorts of way to fix it but i guess choices are limited on an overexposed shot. Will try moving the curve and hopefully it will be better. Thanks! |

Thanks for the kind words. Still finding more about the camera-strobe setting. Just began to move from A-priority to manual as some shots gone over/under exposed. Guess you can only trust the camera metering only this much.. A lot more to learn. Still using S-TTL lah. not advanced enough to try manual settings yet. Even S-TTL sometimes got problems liao. If I use manual now, there will probably be no photos to show at all... ![]() |
