Nothing beats the optics of ZD lenses though... but they are nothing in that focal length for primes. So the next best thing would be the Leica. |

hopefully we can get to see some full size samples taken by olympus bodies with 4/3 leica lenses vs zuiko lenses.
zuiko lenses doesnt seem to perform very well with pana body as tomcat's sample pic indicates. ![]() |

so 50mm f2 is considered a prime while a 14-35 f2 is not. primes tend to be sharper as more elements of the lens are fixed compared to a zoom. type of photography depends very much on the range. like 50mm f2 is good for portraits and macro. Last edited by say123; 4th October 2006 at 10:04 PM. |

Again, depending on what you want to shoot for portraiture... sometimes having a sharp lens for portraiture may backfire badly for you... if the model is not a professional who really takes care of her skin, you may end up with pictures of her looking like she needs to check into skin centre... so think carefully when choosing lenses. But for products and stills and macro work... the 50mm Macro is an excellent lens!

Called the agent and they will only bring in the Sigma when you actually make the order.

On the other hand, a lens that only has one aperture like a mirror lens would be fixed as you can't select another aperture: http://www.photozone.de/3Technology/lenstec5.htm A mirror lens could also be called a prime, but due to the technology of that lens being so different it's better to call it a mirror lens. |

Then hor, if i put the Prime 50mm f2 on the E-body... what kind of shooting mode should i select? Or it doesn't matter? And like drewdam asked, on E-body the 50mm f2 will become 100mm... apparently the Four-Thirds website states that the closest focusing distance is 0.24m OR 9.45 inches... Does that mean i must be AT LEAST 0.24m/9.45inches AWAY from the subject in order to get the subject into focus??? But at "100mm"... the subject will still be quite "BIG" in the frame rite? EH... when buying lenses at the various shops, do they let u try the lens on ur own camera/their avail camera 1st before u commit? Just to have a feel of it... Eric... ![]() |

On the E-system as the lenses are designed for the smaller sensor, they are covering the full frame and there is no crop...they are 100%. There is a 2x multiplier factor though if you compare with 35mm film format. As for the original question, peoeple say 50mm (35mm film equivalent) is good because it is the same focal length as the human eye, so that would be 25mm on the E-system. But a lot of portait shooters prefer 50mm (100mm equivalent). |

Crop factor vs multiplier factor... I was getting it wrong the whole time! Thanks! Eric |
