From Darin in dpreview forum:
----------------------------------- The S9500/9600 has the 9mp 1/1.6" CCD...The S6500fd the 6mp 1/1.7" The difference in size is very minimal (1/1.6 is ever so slightly bigger) so the difference comes down to the number of pixels. 6mp vs 9mp crammed onto the same size sensor means more noise the more mps. The 6mp will have less noise. Also the 6mp sensor is Fujis 6th gen CCD while the S9600 is the slightly older 5th Gen CCD. Also look at the proccessors. RRP = Real Photo Proccessor. S9500 has 9mp 5th gen CCD and RPP1 S9600 has 9mp 5th gen CCD and RPP2 S6500 has 6mp 6th gen CCD and RPP2. The S9600 may have an improvement over the S9500 in image quality due to the RPP2 but the CCD is the same. The RPP2 will also be the reason it will supposedly focus slightly faster and has i-flash etc. The S6500 has the lastest 6th gen CCD and RPP2 exactly the same as the much acclaimed F30. That is why the S9500/9600 only go up to iso1600 wereas the S6500fd goes up to iso3200.....It has less noise. Up to iso200 there will be nothing in it...At iso400 the S6500 should be slightly better....Above this the S6500 should pull away comfortably. |

Have anyone being to the roadshows?
Got an email from Cathay Photo, that the roadshows will be held only at the Marina Square branch for CP, SLS branch for Alan Photo and MS Color. And it's only during the roadshow there will be a sure-win lucky dip. Wonder what could be won from the lucky dip... http://www.mscolor.com.sg/ Other Fujifilm models are on offer as well at MS Color, plus promotions on Manfrotto tripods too... |

Hi, I got it at 699 with 1GB, 1 battery charger, 1 Bag, 1 UV Filter, Lucky Dip. Paid with card though... (as card needs additional charge most of the time). I bought it at MS. Hope this helps...
