I decided to make a visit to Venus Drive yesterday. Along the way, I met Ashley and his darling. Ashley pointed out that he saw a few Asian Flycatchers in Sime Forest. He did warn me on the landslide in Sime Forest and advised me not to make it worst! (I so heavy meh?
) So I walked and walked....passing Terentang Trail (saw a few birds along the way but couldn't get a clear angle). Went off track on one occasion but the branches and leaves are too dense for me to set-up my tripod! Finally, I arrived at Sime Forest. I set-up my gear and waited for the bird wave. Walking along the Sime Forest trail, I saw this little fella (Slender Squirrel) basking lazily in the afternoon sun. Lifting its head (only a little) to see what I was doing. Lighting was low and tricky but the flash seemed to do the job. The bird wave came but I was unable to obtain a clear angle. I saw two beautiful leaf birds as well, still no clear angle. I left Sime Forest without a single bird images that day. While making my way out (another few km, ouch!), I stopped by a path due to calls of birds (at least that what I thought they were). I saw a few Slender Squirrels on a tree. Their tails were raised and pointing forward. I thought some birds might be calling due to these little intruders invading their nest. After observing them for awhile did I realize that those calls were actually made by the squirrels themselves! It was like calling for reinforcement. The reason? Another bigger looking squirrel has entered their territory! Slender Squirrels are a native to Singapore and their status is vulnerable. They feed on soft tree barks, fruits, seeds and sometimes insects. More information is available here: http://www.ecologyasia.com/verts/mam...r_squirrel.htm http://www.wildsingapore.per.sg/disc...relslender.htm ![]() Cheers! |

It is only polite that you do not "hijack" other ppl thread to post your images, which you have already started a thread. The least you can do is to ask the thread starter for permission first. Anyway I am removing your images here

Oh my...
...I'm terribly sorry about it...this is my first time in the <Photo Galleries> part of Clubsnap forum...my intention was just to group squirrel photos together without starting another thread, so that number of threads may be reduced. Many apologies, once again. ![]() |
