Default Olympus Mju 700 & Mju 740

i'm looking for a compact digital camera and have come across some new models of different brands. posted a thread on sony and still waiting for answers.

i saw Olympus Mju 700 and 740 and made a small test and try and thought it is uqite good. but was told that it is made in China. how bad is that? would u pay for a Olympus at $599 for a made in china camera or $699 for a sony made in japan?

if anyone has used or owned these 2 olympus models, please help give me a quick comparison between Olympus and sony (T30) cameras. the reviews i saw in the common cameras review sites have given me much of a headache and thought i shall not trust too much in the reviews.

please, i need ur advise.

thank u!

Hi,

A word of advise, ultimately it boils down which camera seems more suitable for your usage.
Whether it is Made In japan or China. it is the same. till date i own 3 Made in China cameras and i have no issues about it. As long as i like the features and Image quality produce, it is a good camera. At this era of Technology, Made in Japan doesn't proof that it is better then China Made products. Just look at China's Technology advancement now.

Just my 2 cents worth of opinion

If you can, try waiting for the Mju 750... it looks like a winner to me, with its 5X zoom lens and CCD-shift image stabilisation system.

From what I understands. Olympus Singapore is not bring this model in. In fact if you notice from their newspaper Ads. They only bring in Mju 1000 and Mju 740 as their new model.

Like what MIA said...Blu is also an owner of a Battery cell made by a famous japaneese company...had to be recalled. so...where it's made is not
suppose to be the issue but QUALITY counts.

I believe in the next few month it will not be in Singapore. Else it would crash the sales for Mju 740 since the diff is only Optical IS. I think the marketing guys would push Mju 740 first. Then 3 - 6 months then release a new model in singapore. Telling everybody a new Optical IS.
