Default Crimson Sunbird

This is the crimson sunbird i caught yesterday at the lower pierce reservoir. The lower pierce is not really a very nice place for birding, i can't find much birds there.
This is the 2nd time using my new 1.7x teleconverter with the 70-200, still not very used to such long focal length and my hand shakes too much till the extend that the vr doesn't really help much.
I brought my tripod along but it isn't of much help though, i can't move fast enough to capture this bird..

Ok enough of my ranting, hope u all like this crimson sunbird. [My guess is its a male one, due to the blue strips at the throat?]

for Mandai Orchid Gardens, it seems that the sunbirds are getting lesser. I was there last Friday morning and once a couple of months back. Heard them and see them up in the trees but they did not hang around in the open around the heliconias as much.

It used to be a good location for sunbirds previously. Too bad, I suppose there is increase activity, it seems they are building more extension to their restuarant.

Nice.....!! should try to use a monopod instead of tripod next time. It gives you more mobility( compare to tripod) and stability (compare to handheld). How come you never use your 200-400Vr to shoot instead?
