Default New to IR Photography

What made me start IR were the wonderful pictures posted here. I told myself, if anyone can do it, so can I.

Ok... I've just got myself a R72 for my D70 and I'm totally new to IR photography. I've read the stickies and more or less know how to set the CWB. I've also read that some members here have problems achieving similar results as shown by the Pros here.

Now some questions to keep me going;

1. How will the picture turn out straight out of the camera?
2. Will it be B&W or will there be some colours?
3. How to achieve the effects as taken by the Pros?
4. What kind of post-processing functions do you use?

I've got a lot more questions to ask but these will do for now. Will be going down to SBG for some trial shots.

Cheers.

i've also read in the stickies that there are some Good and Bad lenses for IR. why are some lenses categorised as Bad? how much different is it from the Good ones in terms of picture quality?

also, i did some IR shots and noticed that the sky is covered with Cyan on some of the shots? what contributes to this Cyan thingy and how to remove it?

below is one of the best shots of the day and my very first IR posting.

it doesn't looked too good. need to learn more from you guys. comments please.

thanks dude. composition is there but post-processing quality is not there yet. you should see shots taken by others. they are so good until you get breathless just by looking at them.

and oh... i noticed that you've got the Istana Woodneuk as your avatar huh?

post processing can be improved with practice, it's more important to be able to visualise, and the rest is really up to the environment

nah, that's Matilda House old picture
