I don't really express myself well, but a bird perched strongly against rough waters - it's an amazing shot. I love the 2nd one. But I think you posted well, these shots would look better in a series..

A very nice series. Bit of a pity that didn't managed to get a shot of it actually striking the water to get the fish - that would have completed the sequence well.

shutter or photog lag?
I think it's nice but 2,3 and 4 are slightly repetitious..

a qn.. has anyone shot a diving bird topside? aka not sideways but diving towards your angle?

Yeap its a pity, I could'nt get that 1st shot. What happened was that it waited for the wave to bring in any fish and it just stick its head into the water and pop! the fish was in its beak. Now that I've learned its habit, if I am presented the opportunity again, I would probably shoot the moment it pops its head into the water.

denizenx -

For the 2nd to 4 shots, the Heron was actually getting the fish nearer before swallowing it. But I guess it does look repititious.

As for shutter lag, I don't think it is that serious for a DSLR. If there is any, it should probably be my "finger lag"

Cheers
