Just wonder if the only way to download the pictures is by installing the Fuji software and attaching the camera to the computer via the USB? Can it be detected as a removable disk itself by plugging the camera to the computer via the USB cable? Saw a warning label asking to install the software first....

Maybe you can check if there are xD card readers for sale.. then you can use that to copy your photos to your PC.

it should detect the cam (or the card is this case) as a removable disk when connecting a USB cable to the cam.....

I thought so too, and I wonder why the large warning label to install software prior to hooking it up to the computer via USB.....
I prefer to download it directly from the camera instead of taking out theXD card and putting it back later... Thanks!

My way of doing it...
Install the Fuji software.. it'll install all the software.. after that, uninstall the viewer software but DO NOT uninstall the Fuji USB driver. After this, everytime when you plug in your cam and turn it on, XP will automatically detect and ask you "what the hell you want to do" . You can even instruct XP to download images automatically to a specific directory EVERYTIME you plug in and turn on. |

That's a good tip but just wondering if the Fuji USB driver conflicts with the generic USB driver and render all other USB devices incompatible with the system? or we have to specifically assign it? Thanks.

no impact so far to all my other USB devices. i guess the Fuji USB driver enable XP to recognise the F30 when it's being plugged in.
