Default Zenitar Russian Fisheye Lens

Anyone has any experience with this lens? Where can I get one brand new, and how much will it cost?

get from ebay, i selling 1 NEW set off today... hehe, meeting a seller...

price after exchange & delivery (for mine) about $260-270 around there... but i sell lower than that cos i gotten a original manufacturer AF version... hehe... for original manufacturer version would be at least 3-4x more in pricing.

good thing about this lens is the color is nice, price is cheap.

not so nice is, manual aperture, manual focusing...

I guess so. Just thought 1K+ is a bit too much to pay since I'm just starting out in photography.

In my opinion the zenitar FE is good as I am using it also. Maybe you can try source for 2nd hand as in comes in the BnS section every now and then.
Then you can try out the lens before buying. The other alternative is the sigma FE which cost $600+. FE lens is not the most commomly used lens, so you do not really have to spend a bomb on it. Rather put in more money on a rectilinear lens.

be aware that if you are buying one that is m42 screw mount, test mount the adaptor plate. most of the time, the "build in hood" (top and bottom when the camera is in landscape orientation) will not be in the horizontal.

not sure if this will cause vig. when used on non full frame dslr.

but i am sure it will when used with film slr and f.f. dslr, since the angle of view for this lens is 180deg diagonally.
