maybe your digicam is on auto battery save mode?
yes on cold climate the battery will be weak but in SG i doubt so unless the battery is already used for long and must get a new one to be maintain the power in side |

probably it's "auto off" to conserve batteries. I don't think there're many places in Singapore which would be that cold to cause batteries to have such short life....Last edited by mpenza; 16th January 2003 at 08:02 AM. |

In cold weather, batteries have a shorter life span the charge is still in there.
That's why warming up a battery (whether it's a rechargeable or even an alkaline battery) will allow you to extract more juice from it. What some people do is alternate batteries, keeping one battery warm in a coat pocket and shooting with the other, then switching batteries when the cold one dies. Just warm it up and it can be re-used. |

Lithium Ions batteries can withstand very low temperature (to about -20 degree C) but not the normal alkaline nor NiMH. I've seen numerous time during my trekking trips that many people's headlight failed even before the temparature reaches 0 degree especially when they are using alkaline batteries (eg. on Mt. Kinabalu). That's one of the reasons why I prefers to have a camera that can accept AA batteries for trips to cold places so that I can use the Energizer AA lithium ions batteries, and uses these batteries for my headlight even though they are every expensive. (The other reason is that lithium ions batteries are very light weight.)
Hope that helps. ![]() |
