Great work!

I was out shooting the moon last night with my ETX90 but the atmospheric turbulance was so bad I could not get a single shot with good focus out of more than 70 shots.

Not wind lah..

Seriously, I am referring to turbulance in the atmosphere!

Turbulence in the atmosphere causes the moon to 'shimmer' and the rate of this shimmer is determined by the size and steadyness of the warm and cool air columns. The oscillation of these air columns acts like a damn big lens that swings the moon in and out of focus (and most other objects).

no..it's not wind.

Due to heat rising and stuff, the upper layer of the atmosphere is seldom steady. So when viewing at high powers, you see the object "boiling" and very unsteady. Will be worse if the object is near to the horizon.
