Default Blurry Pictures

Hello,

Im a newb on photography. I often get blurry pics with my cam. I am using a Canon Ixus 60. My subjects are usually people. I hate to use my flash cos it kinda like spoils the picture and the facial oil will be very obvious. Was wondering what other ways can i get a good unblurry picture in low light?

Or is good lighting the only way to get good pictures?

Or is there away to diffuse the flash?

Thankiews =)

get another camera with IS/VR/OIS or any form of image stabilizer or camera with good noise performance. else you might want to try it on a tripod.

the blur is cause by slow shutter speed as in the pic which is 1/8... for normal digital camera @ 1x zoom it is recommanded to get about 1/40 for those without any form of stabiliser or at least 1/10 with stabiliser.

your blurry pictures are due to camera shake

or the shutter speed to too slow.
you need more light to get a faster shutter speed.

1. flash
2. sun
3. higher iso speed

or use a tripod and ask your subjects not to move

Quote:
Camera: Canon Digital IXUS 60
Exposure: 0.125 sec (1/8)
Aperture: f/2.8
based on above 'Exposure' ... it'll be abnormal.. abnormal only if the pic is sharp (free frm motion) at 1/8 holding it with arms stretching out.. i dont know about the spec of your camera.. but do everything you can to keep it 1/50 or above (for kinda shots like the pic you shown), your pictures will be less prompt to handshake...

Whenever someone borrow my camera (fuji fx11 btw) in a party or something, snap a bit and return, i always check for the lens and most often i can see fingerprints. So just keep that in mind as well. You sometimes lose contrast with a greasy fingerprint.
