With current law..100% no no..do u think the gov will amend tis statues..just to save their face because of 1 isolated IMF event organisers comments? amending the statues will only lead to freedom of speech for Singaporeans..and what will tat leads to?

    Hahaha...
There're better things to do than for a "not-so-good" cause.

Though I admire his courage, I also commend his stupidity.
Like what someone here always say, this is just DUMB DUMB DUMB.

Must give it to Chee for his high level of motivation and drive. Stupidity or not, none of us will ever have the same level of determination and perseverance, not even remotely close.

Dont think we should judge him when we do not even know much details in our government. Remeber that this man is very highly educated man, probably much more than any of us here. Maybe he is not entirely wrong in his beliefs, or unless he is a little nutty up there - I will give him the benefit of a doubt.

Dun think any Cser would be this stupid to ask for compensation. Do u ?

Hmm.. disappointing to see such intimdating tactics are still being used in a 1st world country like S'pore. I believe most sensible adults know the consequences being involved and tat alone would be sufficient enough to discourage them from participating in such meaningless march.

Like wat cannonised said in his story ( still water runs deep man, anyway did u read about the dog and the sheeps story ? ) there is always a better way to convey his point of view and reach to the general public. Wat he will be doing would just embrass Singapore. I hope the police would resort to a more humane way to handle the situation rather than resorting to violence.

Nevertheless, it would be an interesting watch though

Well, judging frm posts, where ppl here complains abt low flying high-G turns by RSAF at housing estates, where high ideals and morals fly, I'm not surprised if someone goes there, something happens and *whoops* we get a post here from someone asking if its even legal for the police to wield the baton against their own citizens or maybe things like this.

Well, I certainly din explicitly say I'm frm the Police Force. Up to u to think where I'm from.

Some things I clown around, some things I wun be joking abt. Which is real and which is fake, well, exercise ur own judgement.

But my genuine advice to all CSers: AVOID THE PROTEST MARCH EVEN IF CHEE IS GOING AHEAD WITHOUT A PERMIT.

And if one's kaypoh instincts gets the better of u, I can only take my hat off, give u a bow and say, "All the best."

It says a lot about the salientness of our identity if a little protest will "embarass" us. I don't see Korea, Hong Kong or Seattle topple from embarassment the day after the WTO meetings.

C'mon, let's not get conditioned every morning..

Right, right, let's get Hasselblad to be the official camera for the march, and Land Rover to be the official march lead vehicle too!

Join in and be videotaped and photographed FOC by Police photographers. This I am firmly convinced that they will do so, make sure they have a record of all faces of those participants in such events. Then they will enter these details in your personal file.

with Dr Chee as the VIP, and can invite all the bloggers as judges for Best Photo of the Day!

and then you will get a huge debate on how much the photographer should have charged, since it was a one-off event. Then some will jump in and ask why the Police published their photos without permission, and then shoot off a petition to the SPF and then start a poll here..

    you know.. the usual stuff.

ISD (Internal Security Department) will be there to monitor and yes snap photos of those there. And yes there is a file on potential security threats. Whether you are security threat because you are a terrorist or a opposition member that is up to ISD's interpretation.

You may have police coming up to you and asking you to surrender your card or delete everything, protesting might land you in 24 hr detention for obstructing justice.

But knowing how things work, with all the publicity, Chee will be arrested before he can even start the protest. Under Singapore law, it is considered as an illegal gathering if there is 4 or more in a group. Yes... legally speaking, anyone can be arrested, even a family of 10 having dinner. Of course no one does that. It is a law left over from the days when Singapore was trying to curb secret societies. Made mass arrests possible as gang members like to cluster together.

If you really want to shoot, advise you to bring point and shoot. Easily to say that you are passerby etc. Bring heavy gears, you might find yourself being treated to coffee in New Phoenix Park. Reasoning? For being part of protest. (of course we know you are not, but our Govt do not take very kindly to anyone who is seen as faintly deemed to be supporting Chee, Martin a local flim maker who did a docu on him was given a stern warning by the Police and had his equipment confiscated)

Frankly, they should concentrate on counter-terrorism and take their sticky fingers out of the political cookie jar.

I'll not go further, lest I cause this thread to be closed.

Some of the guys here, u are so humchee that I bet in a war situation your ball will retract (from the already shrivelled condition that it is) and all you do is shoot your own mates.

For ****'s sake, u guys are photographers. Go there and take pictures and log the event, and u got pictures to keep of a historical event. The cameras sitting on your fat belly are there to differenciate u from the actual participants of the rally, and worse come to worse, u get shoo-ed off and then u can watch from a distance.

If journalists and cameramen in Iraq are like u guys, where do we get the news from? There are people way out there who'd die to grab a piece of news, and u guys don't even have the simple courage to stand up for Singapore in an internationally publicised event, IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY AND FOR YOUR COUNTRY. All you do is sit on your asses ridiculing those willing to take action for your sake, as u continue to bash policy makers in a virtual world, with virtual words, on internet forums, praying that one day perhaps they will hear your virtual cries.

Clubsnappers, get yourselves a pair of testicles.
