I am curious about the real life performance of the dust reduction system of A100.
Any A100 users who have used it for like 1 month with lens changes. Can do a dust test? like shooting the Sky with f16 then do an auto-level in photoshop. I am wondering if it really works as it is one of the factors in my decision to buy it. |

I think someone did a comparison with Olympus and A100. Olympus was found to reduce some of the dust the A100 virtually removed nothing.

if any of you saw the A100 anti-dust CCD replica they shown during the Sony opening road show, it is actually quite easy to see why it doesn't work very well(or at all). their dust-removal is really like a bubbletea shake, when i pressed the button, the CCD just moves up and down about 20 times for around 1 sec or less. compare that to Oly's ultrasonic vibration, which vibrates at 25000 times per second.

I think we should all give it a chance before we comment on anything.
I've came across a photography blog by Gavin Stocker who have had a chance to use it in Marrakech. His review seems to indicate (be it a bubbletea shake or otherwise) that the system works flawlessly. I suppose there are no system that is 100% perfect. Bottomline is that we do not want see streaks or marks on our precious photographs. Read about Gavin's experience here on the link below. http://www.photographyblog.com/revie...pha_a100_2.php |

From they way you guys talk about this feature is like buying a car and compare how fast the wiper wipes the windscreen.

yah, i mean come on, just take the bloody camera out and shoot. change lens with caution and clean it after each use and this dust problem can be minimised. anyway, i've said what i wanted to say. take it as a pinch of salt if you must. enjoy shooting.
