Hi,
I am thinking of buying the EF1.4 II TC on my 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens. However, I am not sure if this will degrade the picture quality. Are there any picture to show (with and without TC) if this will affect the quality of the pitures? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Also how would the 70-200mm with TC compared to 70-300mm?which will perform better?

On a 1.4x TC, quality will not degrade so much. Lens might hunt a little... But with a 2x ... don't even try. Pictures are soft.
Definitely the 70-200 will still be better, i've owned the 70-300 before and now with the 70-200, i'm all smiles about the quality be it with and without TC. |

with the 1.4x, well, for me, it's still good enough!
I don't think it's degraded much at all! |

70-200 without TC already bad enough liao....
but with 1.4xTC, Kenko, you loose fine details.I am not too sure with Canon. |

But I am very dissatisfied with the 70-200 plus Canon 2X Mk II. |

I'm using a kenko 1.4x TC ... no issues, my shots are still sharp -even wide open. |

My take is : Don't use the 2x TC unless you absolutely have to. 1.4x is the most you should put on your lens. The Canon 1.4x MkII TC is excellent and has very little effect on high quality zoom lens such as the EF 70-200mm (all L variants). Last edited by Garion; 8th September 2006 at 04:26 PM. |

Each scenario / situation calls for a certain lens combo. |

Thanks for all your comments.. At least I know buying the 1.4 TC will not hurt on the 70-200mm.
Thanks!
