CF card are generally cheaper
$ony Duo pro are generally more expensive, and need adaptor, unless you have other $ony equipment which use them as well. You can find a bit more info on users tested card speed at dyxum.com Hope you will enjoy the camera, let us know if you have any question.

"MS is faster than normal speed CF cards," said the Sony person.
but i think it is indeed faster than normal cards(meaning the exclusion of Extreme 4 or 5), cos remember that during the roadshow, the MS wif adapter was able to keep shooting countinuos non-stop, but when replace with some CF card(forgot what brand), it stopped after a while(again, forgot how long). |

Cant go wrong with Sandisk Extreme CF III... or IV if you can find that.
Certainly cheaper than MS Duo, and I dont think the MS duo can beat the CF Extreme speed. |

Sandisk Extreme series CF cards....too overkill la. a transcend 120x cf or even normal ms duo pro is good enough for continuous writing

Good value CF card for the A-100 RiData 4GB 150x. The RiData 80x based on what I heard is slow in the A-100.
Following is my measured speed comparison of the Ridata 4GB 150x and Lexar 1GB 80x WA in the A-100 Firmware:1.02 Lexar 1GB 80X WA 1 raw, MB/s = 7.18 MB/s Avg write time = 1.40s Ritek/Ridata 150X PRO 4GB 1 raw, MB/s = 6.35 MB/s Avg write time = 1.58s Full CF/SD card for the A-100 here... http://dyxum.com/reviews/cfcard/index.asp?cam=a100

![]() I think CF cards the better choice, simply because it's more compatible with more systems. And in my experience, the average shooter would not need to do continuous shooting. Not on an A100 @ 3fps anyway, which is not that useful a framerate. (Sorry ah, I'm from the old-school film style, one-shot-one-kill.) But for what it's worth: Not tested the A100, but on the D5D with Kingston Elite Pro (50x), max size/quality JPEG, tops out after 7 frames continuous but the buffer still clears quite fast after that. And the A100 is supposed to have improved in this area so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

Another issue that's more important is CF card compatibility to the camera. Heard a few cases where Kingston Elite Pro (Blue color) when used on the KM5D/7D caused picture corruption or lost. So be careful when using the Kingston Elite Pro on the Km5D/7D.
The normal (orange color) Kingston seems to be ok on them. Not sure about the newer/recent Kingston elite Pro 120x/150x.

The rebadged orange tab ones (now with flower motif - looks so girly) are as good as the old 1024 orange tab kingstons. I doubt if the 5d, 7d or a100 will perform any better w the new 150x ones - I suspect the prob may hv been inherited on the a100, afterall its not a real technical problem only a performance issue. Does anyone hv a piece to try?

feel that they like reach the critical number. i dun really feel safe having like 4-5k of pictures floating about in 1 CF card. does not give the same sense of security of 1 computer hard disk.

12 or 16gb cards would be great as thumbdrive or portable hdd alts though.
