I've just sold ALL my Canon gears (350D and 3 lenses). Switching to Nikon due to its (1)18-200mm VR lens, (2)more robust body and (3)the absence of L lenses .
Should I get D200, D80 or wait for D300? Got back enough money to buy a D80, SB800 Flash and 18-200mm lens without topping up. If I get the D200, I'll have to top up ($1000 difference). As for D300, some say have to wait long long and the rumours that its coming out next year is not true. ![]()

D100 is launched in Feb 02 and it is after 3 yrs before the D200 is launched.
Therefore, I dun think it would be so soon before the D300 comes out. It wouldnt be cost effective to launch a new model within that time frame for that R&D spent. Perhaps you'll get the D200s The thing with technology is you'll never finish waiting coz new models are launched every now and then. Why wait? Buy and Shoot now! You'll be missing many moments during the wait which are priceless if compared to the depreciation of your equipments. Maybe consider a 2nd hand D200 and top up another $600 - $700? Either that the D80 is |

not logical to wait lah bro
buy now shoot now upload photos now... upgrade laterif you keep thinking of upgrading, then might as well wait for D20Xs? go look at your bank account now and buy whatever you need which you can afford... D80, SB800 Flash and 18-200mm lens is a real solid startup! ![]() welcome to the dark side! Last edited by slooow; 7th September 2006 at 10:04 AM. |

![]() To sci80298, I invite you to join me and some regulars Nikonians at our NUG at Peninsula Hotel Spinelli Cafe tonight after 6:30pm. Allow me to enlighten you to the world of Nikon. And also some better deals for the Camera and lenses. You might not have cough out extra $1k as you earlier predicted. You may also welcome to PM/SMS me @96456423 should you need more info on any Nikon stuff. ![]()

Thanks to http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=151190
Think I've got myself a good deal at CP today. Paid $4949 for D200 body, SB800 flash, AF-S 18-200mm VR lens, EN-EL3e battery, B&W Skylight 72mm filter, Sandisk Extreme III CF Card 2GB and Battery Grip. Topped up only $1200 after the sales of my Canon gears. 3 Cheers to Nikon!!!

Welcome to the Nikon family !
Good buy, especially since it's CP. But why a Skylight filter and not the UV Haze, or the Nikon NC filter ? Remember that post-processing will be different too from your Canon. Nikon Capture NX is highly recommended (some Canon users drool over this software ). |

I would go for D200, D300 still vapourware, nothing's confirmed, D200 is barely 1 year old. D300 won't be out in a hurry.
